Organic Lotions Certified to National Organic Standards, our lotions are based on pure organic oils, free of petrochemically modified ingredients and preservatives. Organic jojoba oil moisturizes dry skin exceptionally well, due to its unique similarity to the skin's natural oil. Organic coconut oil assists absorption while organic hemp and avocado oils help keep skin smooth and supple. Organic grain alcohol (ethanol) is used as a natural preservative at a level that helps absorption without being drying. Only the finest organic essential oils are used for fragrance: peppermint is invigorating; lavender is soothing and calming; patchouli is for patchouli lovers; lime and orange being citrus are stimulating. The lightly scented lavender variety is for more sensitive skin/people, and contains only just enough organic lavender oil to denature (render undrinkable) the organic ethanol. Organic Tattoo and Body Balms Also Certified to National Organic Standards, our body/tattoo balms are based on pure organic oils and beeswax, free of petrochemically modified ingredients. The body balms like the lotions lead with jojoba oil, but are much more heavy duty with organic beeswax in addition to organic avocado and hemp oils for really dry, flaky or cracked skin (hands, knuckles, feet, elbows, knees, etc.) But the balms still absorb well into the skin, and are very restorative without being greasy. These balms are also excellent for helping new tattoos heal, and also for older tattoos to freshen and brighten the colours and contrasts. Only the finest organic essential oils are used for fragrance: peppermint is invigorating; lavender is soothing and calming; patchouli is for patchouli lovers; lime and orange being citrus are stimulating. And of course the Naked is for more sensitive skin/people who don't want any essential oil. Organic Lip Balms Certified to National Organic Standards, our lip balms are based on pure organic oils and beeswax, free of petrochemically modified ingredients. The lip balm leads with avocado oil because that gives a good protective barrier to the elements and along with the beeswax, while the organic jojoba and hemp oils assist moisturisation. Only the finest organic essential oils are used for fragrance: peppermint is invigorating; ginger has zing; lime and orange being citrus are stimulating. And of course the Naked is for more sensitive skin/people who don't want any essential oil.  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Why do we use organic grain alcohol in the lotions? Organic grain alcohol (ethanol) is used as a natural preservative at a level that helps absorption without being drying. Why do we no longer make 'naked' unscented lotion? Under US law, the certified organic grain alcohol we use must be "denatured" or rendered undrinkable by adding one of various approved substances, and the only options to do this naturally and organically are a small amount (~0.18%) of peppermint, lavender or rosemary essential oils. Our Lavender Coconut variety is "lightly scented" as it contains only the small amount of organic lavender oil needed to denature the organic alcohol. Since no other fragrance is added, the natural delicious coconut fragrance of our organic extra virgin coconut oil combines with the small amount of lavender for a subtle, sublime scent. Why do you use organic beeswax in your lip and body balms? Although our line is otherwise vegan, we do use certified organic beeswax in the lip and body balms. We could not find a certified organic plant-based wax, and Sue anyway insisted that she has not found a plant-based alternative that can substitute for the amazing qualities of beeswax: based on her experience and extensive training and mentoring under the Native American herbalist Keewaydinoquay, Sue formulated her original lip balms with just avocado oil and beeswax, because beeswax has natural antibacterial and sunblock qualities and provides a superior barrier to keep moisture in. We buy our certified organic beeswax from New Zealand, and we checked to make sure that the queens are not killed each year as happens sometimes with conventional beekeeping to maximize yields. When will the hair care and soaps be ready? We are working on a revolutionary new concept here! Quality good-performance truly organic based shampoos and conditioners do not yet exist. But we have some promising formulations we are working on, and we have our fingers crossed to have it all sorted out by the end of this year. We will offer hand/face and body wash pump/bar soaps at the same time we have the shampoo & conditioner ready to roll out.
